How Does My Body Image Effect Sexual Desire

As women, how we feel about our bodies has a significant impact on our libido, but that comes as no surprise.  Certainly if you don’t enjoy the sight of your naked body in the mirror, the last thing you want to do is expose it to your partner.

Fact: The greatest sex organ is the brain.  Where our mind goes, our feelings & actions follow.   Jesus said it best, “As a man (or woman) thinketh, so is he (she).”   If you think you are fat and unattractive, then you will act as though you are fat and unattractive.  Improving body image then image begins with a mindful practice self appreciation and self acceptance.  Self acceptance doesn’t mean you don’t wish to change and progress, it simply means you will create the changes you desire from a place of peace and acceptance rather than anger, dissatisfaction and self-rejection.

Consider the follow ideas to shed the negative body thoughts and unleash your inner goddess.

Media Influence
The media gives women unrealistic standards for beauty. As women it’s easy to compare our every day looks to those of models gracing the covers of fashion magazines and by comparison feel...ugly, fat and unattractive.  It’s important to remember that it takes a team of professionals to transform a woman into a cover model.  Make-up, styling, air brushing and lighting all work to give the illusion of perfection.  To see this transformation first hand visit www.dove.us and view the evolution video.  It’s quite revealing.  Perfect doesn’t exist.  Focus on being the best YOU, you can be and drop the unrealistic expectations.

Accept Yourself As You Are
Accept yourself as you are right now and enjoy taking care of yourself.  Once you accept yourself you are free to create the changes you’d like to see from a space of self-respect and self-love instead of self-loathing and resistance.

Daily Practice
Every morning practice the following affirmations

1. “(your name), I am proud of you for ___________ , _____________ , & _____________ .”
Name three things you are proud of yourself for

“(your name), I forgive you for ________________ .”
Name anything you forgive yourself for

“(your name), today I commit to honoring myself by  _____________ .”
State what you want to commit yourself to.

Say these affirmations aloud.  Words have power.  Even though it may feel uncomfortable and contrived at first, stay with the process daily, and you will begin to feel a change.  Trust you are exactly where you need to be to propel you toward fulfilling your greatest potential. Learning to value your unique beauty and release unrealistic expectations takes time and practice, but every woman can do it!

Define Yourself As Sexy
Every woman can be super sexy, regardless of her shape, size or age.  This is the truth as told by them men who love women.  Above all, including body shape and breast size, sexual responsiveness is what men find most sexy while making love.  100% of men surveyed nationwide confirm that the single greatest factor that determines an amazing sexual experience is a responsive partner who communicates how much she is enjoying herself.
